英国大学研究水平和实力评比REF2014，UCL和牛津都说自己是No 1

英国大学研究水平和实力评比（REF2014）结果公布，UCL和牛津都说自己是No 1。

英国大学的研究水平和实力评比每几年都要评比一次，最新一次REF2014结果刚刚出来，上一次的评比是2008，这次的评比从三个方面进行：研究结果（output 65%），研究成果对社会的影响（impact 20%），研究环境（Environment 15%）。

评比结果出来以后，各种排名榜就出来了，不同的排名原则排名自然不一样，比如按照平均成绩排的，按照综合实力排的。。。。。。总的说来，UCL和IC进步了Cambridge退步了，Oxford不进稍退。

科研水平主要依靠RESEARCHER，一般上课的学生根本谈不上参与，所以如果要感到骄傲的话，可以是为在科研能力如此之强的学校学习知识而自豪。其实除非是到了PHD的水平，否则很难触碰到那些所谓的研究成果，也就谈不上对学生自己有什么帮助了。 其它的因素很重要，比如教学质量，学习资源和设施，还有学校的名气。

BBC说了，如今伦敦大学与其他地方的大学的科研水平可能会越拉越大，一是因为政府在经济政策上偏重于伦敦，二是伦敦本身的魅力吸引很多科研工作者去工作。

现在伦敦的房价让伦敦的大学开不起吸引人的条件来吸引top rate的researcher来伦敦工作了。

RAF只是对各专业的科研分等级，本身并没有一个排名。而且各个学校的专业也不一样，没法直接比较。

伦敦不是有补贴么。牛津剑桥还没补贴呢，房价还那么贵。

评了等级以后还是可以排名的，比如可以按照4*等级的比例排名等等，最有用的综合排名是按照research power来排，research power是按照每个等级的比例以及参加评比的人数计算的，这个指数重要的原因是因为它和学校收入有关系，国家给学校的统一拨款中一部分钱就是按照每个学校的research power来计算的。

伦敦allowance一年2k多一点，就够个地铁年票，根本对房价没有任何帮助，伦敦的一些大学为了招好的professor除了高工资外还给一些用来买房的无息贷款（就像help to buy一样）。

学校收入跟学校的规模很大关系。人多收入自然就多，哪怕水平很一般。
这个等级是按专业评的，各个学校专业不一样，例如有些学校只有general engineering, 不分什么mechanical，electrical还是civil。那你说怎么排名次？

够买地铁票就不错了，伦敦基本都住在4区以外了，难道还想住1，2区？牛津剑桥没补贴，但是房价还不低于伦敦的4区

不同专业也不是不可比较，因为评级是和国际水平对比的，比如说4的意思是international leading，如果一个学校的gen Eng有20%是4而另外一个学校的mech eng有10%是4*，那第一个学校明显研究水平比第二个学校高啊。

人数多不一定钱就多，因为4的钱是3的钱的3倍(这是2008年的公式这次怎么分钱的公式还没有出来)。人数多就算钱多平均到每个人也不多。到底报多少人参加评比完全是个game play的问题，有些学校报的人少想用质量取胜，有的学校以数量取胜。这次就有学校想少报以平均分取胜，但结果是平均分没有增加多少，但综合的research power大大减少，收入肯定也要减少。

伦敦的生活开支确实让IC和UCL在招Prof的时候相当有压力。
