A level的要求不是很能说明问题，帝国理工有些专业的要求高过oxbridge。不在大学系统工作的人可能会想不到，A level要求定到那个水平很多程度上是根据marketing做决定的，为了吸引更多学生，定入学要求完全就是game play。你说AAA和A*AA有多少差别吗？
UCL和Bristol数学那个更强我没有研究过，我觉得oxbridge之外，很多大学都差不多，中国人选择大学基本依赖于排名榜，但英国人更多依赖于他们传统的对大学名声的认知度，Bristol是很多英国人认为的好学校是上不了oxbridge的首选之一，比如Tony Blair的一个儿子上不了Oxford就选择了Bristol。从临床医学来说，英国人认为Oxford最好，然后是UCL，IC，King’s。
医学没有剑桥？表示质疑啊，呵呵。
上次拿了OFFER， 小孩PART-TIME 上班的health center里平时不怎么露脸的3个Partner都过来祝贺，
3个人，两个IMPERIAL， 一个UCL的，英国本地人。
Bristol去年有very bad publicity，18个月内有8个学生自杀，当然现在学校重视这个问题应该没问题了。

这句话什么意思呢？first class honour只看第3年成绩，不是3年成绩的加权平均吗？
从录取要求来看，感觉Durham要比Bristol要好，而bath要稍低一级。Do you agree that Durham is slightly better than Bristol?
一直觉得bristol和edinburgh, manchester是一级的，但看起来bristol要比edinburgh, manchester高半线
很多年前剑桥学医只是学三年理论然后剩下的时间到别的学校学，这是我家孩子的一个同学父亲告诉我的，他是一个famous surgeon，他说他和他wife很多很多年以前在剑桥读了三年然后到UCL读。当然现在的情况不一样了，但有些old man还是以前的观点。
应该是这样的：
剑桥一直都有自己的实习医院和医学研究院，剑桥的医院是全国十大之一；
事实是牛津的医学生三年后要到UCL 接受教学和实习！！现在还是这样。

听医生朋友说，其实学医哪个学校都一样，到后来都是全英排名。当然好的学校老师好些，学生生源好些，但培养计划都是全英统一的。真讲究的也就是大学本身的名气。有些中学成绩特别好的，也不一定成为特别好的医生。有的后来名气大、有成就的外科医生也不是当初成绩好的、名校毕业的。
further math 拿A比math拿A难多了，所以区别就大多了。
如果说只有10%的学生考further math。math A是top 10% of all, further math A is top 1% of all and therefore separate the best of the remaining 9%.那就是北清复交和985的区别了。

Total number of FTE staff submitted是指全绩老师的人数，还是全绩老师提交的论文数呢？
GPA是指学生成绩的GPA吗，是怎么个换算呢？还是指老师论文的GPA?
这个排名的依据是什么呢？以clinical medicine为例，排在第4的institute of cancer research的research output只有230，其它指标也不是很高，怎么可以排得这么高的？
同意啊，今后发展还是看个人。
但是如果你经常接触不同大学医学毕业的FY1的初级医生或者来医院实习的医学生，接触多了，你会感觉在工作态度，处理问题的能力和动手操作能力，从不同大学来的还是有所不同，有高低之分的。
在急诊室里会更加明显地看出来。。。
剑桥医学生大概都不想当医生，40%都会续读PHD。。。去搞research了。

不知道为什么我觉得在UCL学医超好。伦敦作为国际大都市还是感觉比牛剑在医学方面交流更方便。
我女儿UCL医学毕业，现在是F1，她告诉我，剑桥实习医院不够多，一部分在剑桥，一部分在伦敦学习和实习，因为伦敦及伦敦周边医院众多，她在后三年的实习中一起实习的都有剑桥学生，这是实情
你看的那个排名是按照research排名的，对本科教育没有任何意义，你甚至可以说排的高是negative，一些排的高的学校因为要抓research，老师没有多少时间关心教学和学生。
Total number of FTE staff submitted，是参加排名的人数，学校可以自己选择报多少老师，最后分钱是GPA排名乘以人数，有些学校为了排名高就少报，有些学校报多少人以拿最多钱为原则，RAE 2020就不能这样玩了所有人都要报。GPA是research output(可以是paper可以是book可以是专利。。。)的平均分。
说真心话，Cambridge最近一些年在吸引捐款方面比Oxford牛叉多了，下面是最近几天的。以前媒体做对比，说剑桥拿了个Microsoft lab，牛津从军火商那里拿了个business school。最近几年华为给Oxford很多钱，但现在Oxford说停止接受任何华为的funding。
