We are looking for an experienced GIS Technician to join the team at our Wellington office.

Using the latest GIS software your role will principally involve collecting and updating new network information, correcting data and providing network information to third parties.

You’ll need to have advanced computer skills, be proficient with spreadsheets and databases, confident learning new applications, and great at retaining and recalling knowledge.You’ll be detail focused and enjoy investigating and then solving problems.We’ll know we can rely on you to enter detailed data accurately every time, and you’ll understand how critical your accuracy is to our field teams and to our clients.

GIS experience is preferred and some electricity distribution network knowledge will be helpful to you in this role. Experience with GIS/CAD applications (preferably Smallworld and Microstation) will be an advantage

As part of the Asset Development and Business Support Southern team based in Manukau (within the Parks, Sports and Recreation department), your key focus will be analysing, assessing, collating and entering information on park and recreation facilities assets in the southern Auckland region. You will gather information from a variety of sources such as asset databases, liaising with project team members and external contractors. This information is vital to ensure responsive delivery of up to date information for asset management planning programmes and for ad-hoc requests from stakeholders.

But on occasion you will be heading out into the field to capture, map and update parks asset information that is physically in place in the central region. You will verify that the information is correct against current plans through a “mobile solution”. This could be updating mapping when maintenance or renewal works take place - for example when gardens are added, or taken out - or when parks undergo development. You will also assess and collate information on the standards of assets against a rating system (e.g. the quality standard of the park benches etc). Then you head back to the office to enter the information into asset database management systems - which is where your experience in SAP, GIS and MS Excel would come in very handy, especially in basic manipulation of data. You will need good attention to detail, as well as confidence with a variety of information systems and the ability to self manage your time and workload.

The role requires an understanding of GIS and competence in using the MS Word and Excel. The environment is constantly evolving, so if you are an ideas person you could also be involved in ongoing efficiencies and innovations with the mobile device. We are open to your background… if you have had experience or exposure to spatial planning this could be an interesting step for you, likewise if you have been a physical works maintenance contractor with strong IS skills seeking an entry into asset management this could be of interest.

We currently have a full-time vacancy in our Balclutha office for a GIS Technician.

This permanent position involves operating and maintaining our Computerised Mapping System, preparing and updating operating system diagrams and underground cable locating.

We are ideally looking for someone with mapping/GIS experience; however we would consider applicants with knowledge of electronic draughting. An interest in the electricity industry, good communication skills, a current driver’s licence and University Entrance or NCEA Level 2 is essential.

You must be a conscientious person with a positive approach, have excellent customer focus, maintain high and consistent standards and enjoy working co-operatively as part of a small team to achieve the organisations goals.

From within the Engineering Records Team, you will provide engineering, property and survey information from plan records, both hard copy and electronic, to building and construction industry professionals, the public and to internal divisions of Council.

Electronic transfer of plan records is part of the daily routine as is the creation of digitised electronic records from hard copy plans. You will also assist the Land Information Services Team where you will research records used to compile and input data into Council’s GIS System.

Experience in the interpretation of plan records, particularly from a civil engineering, property or survey background and a tertiary qualification with a computing or GIS component would be a distinct advantage.

ou will focus on developing and managing the asset management systems for the Strategy and Policy team. The majority of your time will involve ongoing reviews, updates and development of asset databases and activity management plans.

You will be enthusiastic and have experience in the development and management of asset management databases. A relevant degree is desirable but not essential.

You will be responsible for going out to the business and building relationships throughout the GIS community internally. You will help to build the road map and strategy for the collection and usage of GIS information through the organisation. You will be comfortable presenting to large groups and managing workshops. You will comfortable developing and modelling processes and building business cases.

You will have a technical understanding of GIS particularly the ESRI toolset. However your focus will be more strategic and more around information is used and how it will add value to the business rather than playing with the toolset. You will have strong influencing skills and the ability to build relationships across both technical and business stakeholders.

As a key member of the Roading and Street Services team, it will be up to you to use a variety of systems and tools to manipulate and analyse our existing technical asset data. With proven experience in using databases, complex spreadsheets and interfaces that transfer data between systems and maybe even some basic SQL; you have the skills we are after.

With either a generalist engineering or IT data background, learning the technicalities of asset management, RAMM and GIS mapping will soon become clear. Not only will you be responsible for the accuracy of the asset data but you will work alongside fellow team members and consultants to ensure the format is suitable for use. It is essential that you have strong written and oral communication skills, and be customer focused.

We seek the services of a GIS Updater to capture, verify and maintain network data sets within a Geographical Information System (GIS), provide GIS support to the user community and assist in quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

Capturing and verifying as built data in GIS
Assisting in land base and kerb line capture
Undertaking enhancement activities on GIS data
Dealing with document issues and process improvements
Supporting the GIS community in the use and functionality of the GIS application
Using SAP to capture network asset information, update job status and completion

Skills and Experience Required

Experience in capturing and maintaining GIS data using SmallWorld, ArcGIS or similar information systems.
Understanding of general work practices in the installation of assets and the operation of distribution systems.
Understanding of asbuilts, spatial database structures and maintenance data capture processes
Strong skills in the use of data auditing tools
Fieldwork experience
Computer literacy in the use of Microstation and Autocad an advantage.
A formal qualification in Geography or Draughting is preferred.

找工作大概历时3个月 投了100多份简历 大概有三分之一有回音 不过大多数是拒绝:cn14: 然后面试了几个。 感觉面试真的是挺不一样的, 有的特别正式, 就像有的书上写的那样, 好几个人: HR 部门主管等等 问题包括技术类的还有心理测试 总之是十分的正式啊;有的就比较随意, 两三个人感觉就像和你在聊天。 不过我感觉抛开形式 其实面试关心的也就是专业上你能干什么和你是不适合这个公司的环境。
找工作的童鞋们 坚持很重要啊 虽然拒绝的消息很多 有时候挺灰心的 但是大家要相信曙光就在前面 要有打不到的精神:cn13:
