（注意：笔者7月11日发帖时，在线申请功能已被UKBA取消，原因不详！）
我可能跟大多数同学不大一样，我是在线申请的，也就是Interactive Application Form（PDF），填完以后在线提交，并且在线付款。提交付款以后，系统会生成一个全部填好编排好的申请表，打印下来，签名，加上其他材料寄过去。材料有：
Cover Letter
护照（两本）
警察局注册信（我有两张）
Life In The UK证书
相片（两张）
三个月Bank Statements（非必要）
三个月Pay Slips（非必要）
我的续签没有Gap，没有超过离开英国时间。6年学生，1年SEGS（PSW前身），3年T1 General。
6月7日寄出，6月10日收到确认信，7月4号Liverpool签发，7月7号收到护照。整整一个月。
我觉得在线申请的好处有：1，填申请表的时候，申请表内容根据申请者的情况而变化，10年永居的SET(O)其实没几个Section需要填写的，互动申请表会自动调整格式，最后打印出来没几页纸；2，填好表以后，互动表格有一个功能是帮你检查填写内容，可以帮你检查有哪些需要填写的部分没有填完等等；3，在线付款理论上会适当缩短PR审批时间。 比较奇怪的是，现在Interactive Application Form功能被关闭了，不知道为什么。

跟护照一起回来的，还有两张说明拿到永居以后的注意事项，其中两段话，我抄过来，大家看看：
If you leave the UK, you will normally be re-admitted for settlement as a returning resident provided that:
[ul]
- you did not receive assistance from public funds towards the cost of leaving this country
- you had indefinite leave to enter or remain here when you last left
- you have not been away for long than 2 years; AND
- you are returning for the purpose of settlement
[/ul]
In order to be considered as settled here you have to be able to show that you are habiturally and normally resident in this country, and that any absences have been of a temporary or occasional nature.
You will not be re-admitted as a returning resident if you are resident overseas and only return here for short periods.
我觉得这两段话已经说得很清楚了，基本上如果想凭借两年只回英国短暂的时间，从而保留PR的话（在没有strong connection的情况下，比如有亲人在英国等等），风险是很大的，理论上来讲可能第二次就行不通了。当然，其中评断尺度的具体把握，也许还是要看当天的移民官的心情了吧。
