The 5 years can include time in the UK on another visa if it was 1 of the following:
Member of Ground Staff of an Overseas Owned Airline

Representative of an Overseas Newspaper, News Agency or Broadcasting Organisation

1）如果他已经拿到永居，等了5年没申请国籍，这5年中怎么可能再需要续签永居签证？
2）如果他还没有拿到永居，那么他首先需要满足永居的条件再申请国籍。
