我的PSW 年末到期，已经申请到了 PHD，9月份开学。
问题是 前两周刚出了一个新政策，说 只要想在英国读书，就得 先申请新的 学生签证。
271。A student cannot start his/her new course until his/her new Tier 4 application has been approved.
这样的话，不管我现在还有好几个月有效签证，还得重新申请 学生签证吗？
还是可以在年末 现有的PSW 快到期时再申请 学生签啊？

最好在8月底左右申请Tier 4，太早申请会被拒。

我PhD开学前PSW还有1年多 还是按规矩签了Tier4学生签证 但是HomeOffice一下子给了几年学生签 不是传说中的一年
具体你可以和你们学校的老师商量 一般学校是允许你换新签证的申请交上去之后就可以开学了 因为从申请到你拿到签证往往要2-3个月
这段时间不能荒废啊 所以你要求这时候开学也是合情合理的
我也有类似的问题。我的PSW是今年2月开始到2012年2月，今年9月份开始读PhD。我问过学校的国际办公室，他们回复说我可以用PSW签证开始PhD课程，然后再转学生签证。
在最新版本的Tier 4 policy guidance - for applications made on or after 13 July 2010里，那一条是264条：
A student cannot start his/her new course until his/her new Tier 4 application has been approved.
这一条是有前提条件的： What do Students have to do if they want to take the same or a different course of study in the United Kingdom with a new Tier 4 Sponsor?
264条是这个前提下的几个条目之一，不能单独拿出来说。
我也是同样情况。 但是还没申请转学生签呢， 你可以具体解释一下什么前提条件，才不是必须要转学生签证吗？
我也是这样，我们的学校的老师说可以想开始PHD的课，等到签证快到期的时候转成TIER 4就可以了，不过不清楚资金证明是不是只要学校的学费收据+足够生活费的bank statement 就可以了？
不知道8楼的说法是什么意思呢？是说一定要在注册之前递交申请吗？
我也在困惑呢。我把UKBA的guidance看了一遍，没有提到如果你是PSW 转Tier4的话，应该什么时候申请。
你学校的说法更宽松，你PSW什么时候到期？ 个人觉得，从移民法原则来看，你的签证应该是跟在英国的状态对应的，如果是全日制学习的话 就应该持学生签证。

的确，有可能是因为我的签证时年底到期的，但是确实是说可以先入学在转签，不必在上学之前转好。但是如果主要在英国是学习的话，就应该转成学生签证。
你们看看这个，我今天刚找到的 LSE 给的说明，也是差不多的意思：
Tier 1 (Post Study Work)
You can study while you are in the UK under Tier 1 Post Study Work (PSW).
If you intend to continue to work during your studies and this is your main reason for staying in the UK, you can continue to study with your PSW visa.
If you intend to do only a little work or stop working, it is advisable to switch to a Tier 4 General Student Visa. This is because you should always have a visa that reflects your main purpose for being in the UK. If you travel in and out of the UK, you will have to explain your reason for re-entering the UK. If your main purpose has changed to study and you have a PSW visa, the immigration officer has the right to cancel your visa and refuse you entry.
If your PSW visa expires during your studies or you want to switch, you can apply for Tier 4 General Student inside or outside the UK.

确定一下，是说正式上课之前把申请递上去就行了对吧？这是要和学校特别商量的还是说类似的情况一般都是这样处理的？
给LZ一个参考吧，我的情况和你一模一样。最好在开学之前转换签证类型，否则开学之后再转签证会有相应的拒签可能。我面签很简单的，资金证明+上一个degree+cas letter+护照+照片+警局注册表+钱，基本上就这些了，好运
