2012-2013 Personal allowance

less then 20 hour a week is dun need to pay income tax

Income tax is based on incomes, not working hours.

As someone already pointed out earlier, you only pay income tax on earnings in excess of personal allowance (8105 pounds for 2012/13 ).

If for whatever reason you gets over taxed (accumulative) as at the end of 31 March 2012, then you can write to inland revenue for a tax refund, they will normally ask for your P60 for the relevant period.

If you’ve been taxed in the current tax year (possible, if you are paid weekly), then the payroll package should automatically make a tax refund to you on your next payment proving your weekly income does not increase in excess of 156 pound (8105/52 wks).

As for National Insurance Contribution (NIC), you pay 12% on weekly earning bracket 146 pounds - 817 pound (earning below this nil), 2% for weekly earning above 817 pounds.
For employees on monthly pay, use the above multiply 52 weeks and divide by 12 months.

No income tax and no NIC if this is your only income.

Commissions are also employment income therefore is taxable if, in combine with your basic pay, are exceeding the personal allowance of £8105 per year (2012/13).

Thanks a lot!
