Do you know?
You accidentally meet someone important in the elevator, how can you impress him/her in such a short “journey”? Elevator pitch (or speech) reflects the idea that it should be possible to deliver the summary in the time span of an elevator ride, or about half to two minutes.
Always be prepared! You will never know who you will bump into. Prepare specific speech to specific audience. Generic speech is not likely to succeed. Knowing your business well is easy, but catching outsider attention in a minute doesn’t. You must know what to highlight and which keyword triggers their curiosity. When you outline your speech, you must address the following questions:
- Who am I?
- What do I offer?
- How problem is solved with my product or service?
- What should the listener do as a result of hearing this?
An interesting and value adding short speech leads to longer conversation or end in a scheduled meeting!
Best of Luck with your 2014 Job Hunting,
