Be EXTREMELY careful about the source of funding, and don’t go down the route to find a solicitor who doesn’t care much about your funds, but will still act for you. Even you don’t have any trouble with your solicitor, it doesn’t mean your bank will be satisfied with your funds and release it with no question.
My friends have done exact the same thing as you did, they have transferred around 380k from China over to UK, all parents savings but via different people, due to the annual Forex limits, they wanted to purchase property in UK, initially no solicitor was willing to accept them or has raised stringent funding proof requirements.
They eventually “luckily” find a solicitor seemed to be easy-going and accepted their case and started to act for them; all went well, until the contract completion day, when they conducted the bank to transfer out their money over to solicitor’s account; it’s all got frozen and held up by High Risk Transaction team of the Fraud department.
They are suffering 4.5% daily interest on the overdue payment as they are unable to complete on time.
