Our client is a logistics provider offering a wide range of transport services across the world, With fast growing and expending, we are looking for an experienced Import Customs Clearance Operator to join our team based in London.
About This Role
This new position of will be responsible for day to day processing of customs entries ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations along with ensuring timely Customs Clearance of shipments for both seafreight and airfreight.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities including but not limited
- Handle the day to day customs clearance operations
- Customer service - Attend and reply to client queries and proactively update them on the status of their shipments
- Customer service reporting and daily interaction with customers.
- Interface with HMRC systems to co-ordinate the customs clearance between customers and Customs Centre.
- Monitor the clearance status of shipments
- Maintain records of clearance on relevant systems.
- Proper co-ordination with Shipping Lines, Transporters, customs and Customers for timely collection and dispatch of shipments
- Ensure that all relevant systems are used correctly for all jobs / shipments ,all jobs are invoiced and closed within the specified time frame
- Follow up on truckers till shipments arrival at client premises/ports.
- Liaise with Warehouse to gain update on progress of cargo status
- Dispatch all relevant paperwork to drivers
Requirements:
- Must have minimum 2 years customs clearance formalities operations experience in freight forwarding or shipping lines companies
- Knowledge of port and customs working patterns and procedures.
- Must be familiar with Cargowise, ICE/CHIEF and CDS
- Excellent customer service skills and communicate politely and efficiently with clients and internal staff
- Be extremely organised and have attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
- Able to work under pressure
