我朋友现在拿的是tier 4 学生签，没有给20小时的打工时间，不能工作。但是拿同样签证的同学们有做cash in hand的工作。想请问，如果做unpaid internship可不可以？

unpaid internship 是 volunteer 性质的
所以我猜可以做，因为不是employment。
首先unpaid internship本身就是illegal，所以一般这样的公司都会提供一些形式的补助，这样就算是paid intern了，至于合法性问hr吧，他们不清楚的话会打电话问ho的。good luck
严格来讲，移民局如果没有给工作权限的话，unpaid employment也是不可以做的，除了volunteer，因为不属于employment。
做UNPAID也算抢了英国人的就业，如果UNPAID是允许的估计有很多UNPAID的外卖店工作。。。

I dont think your mate can in fact, I did one year industrial pacement (it was part of my degree sandwich year all paid) and it clearly stated that intership was only allowed to be undertaken under the student visa unless it forms an essential part of your degree.

不是的，只是某些学校的学生签证不允许。
You are not allowed to work in the UK if you are on a course at any level with an education provider that is not a UK higher education institution or a publicly funded further education college。
